Upon joining Shlama’s Mission trip to Iraq in March of 2019, his first trip back to Iraq in 49 years, Faiz decided to volunteer his expertise in the energy field to introduce solar power and energy efficiency to the Nineveh Plains. He is currently managing the USAID-sponsored Shlama project to install solar panels for 100 homes, 30 farms and 85 solar powered LED street lights in the Nineveh Plains. Faiz was born in Baghdad, and immigrated to the United States in 1970. Faiz retired from Fiat Chrysler after 32 years, with the last few years spent as the Corporate Energy Manager. Faiz has a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a master's degree in Engineering Management both from the University of Detroit Mercy.
